Notes about Ana Flávia
Ana Flávia Azinheira was born on February 8, 1977. She is a Master in Public Health, a graduate in Veterinary Medicine from Eduardo Mondlane University, and a Bachelor in International Business, the latter obtained in the United States of America.
She is an enterprising woman, owner of a network of veterinary clinics scattered all over the country. However, she is known as a basketball player. She practiced the sport for 25 years at the highest level.
As a ball-and-basket athlete, she was African champion for Académica in 2001. In 2006, she was voted Most Valuable Player of Africa (MVP), playing for the Ferroviário de Maputo. She wore the National Team jersey and even played for North American clubs (St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, Texas, and College Kansas) for three years.
Internally she worked at Maxaquene, Ferroviário da Beira, Ferroviário de Nampula, Ferroviário de Maputo, Académica and A Politécnica, where she finished her career. In 2014, Ana Flávia entered the history of Mozambican basketball. The former athlete was part of the group of athletes who represented Mozambique for the first time in a world championship.
Ana Flávia is single but she has relationship, and she is the mother of a boy. After the elections of 15 October 2014, she was appointed to the post of Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports.
